DSOD 1U Mission successfully accomplished! Dhruva Space Satellite Orbital Deployer space-qualifies on ISRO’s PSLV C53

HYDERABAD, TS, INDIA (JUNE 30, 2022) Dhruva Space Private Limited is thrilled to share that Dhruva Space’s Satellite Orbital Deployer has been successfully tested and space-qualified in the PSLV C53 mission. The launch took place at 18:02 IST on June 30, 2022, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Given interfacing of the Spacecraft with the Launch Vehicle is a critical component to deployment of satellites, Dhruva Space has indigenously developed satellite deployment systems that are compatible with the PSLV Launch Vehicle. For the PSLV C53 mission, Dhruva Space utilised the PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM) which allows in-orbit scientific experiments using the spent PS4 stage as an orbital platform.

Speaking on the success of the space-qualification, Sanjay Nekkanti, CEO, Dhruva Space Private Limited, shares, “Our successful testing and space-qualification of Dhruva Space’s Satellite Orbital Deployer marks a new chapter in India’s space history, and the PSLV C53 mission is an iconic milestone in the journey of Dhruva Space. This is also a big win for the Dhruva Space team who have all worked together with unrelenting determination to ensure the success of ultimately gaining space heritage. We look forward to supporting our international clients with CubeSat Deployers, Integration and Launch Services.”

Nekkanti concludes, “The deployer testing & review support from Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), commercial launch opportunity through NewSpace India limited (NSIL) and authorisation support from Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) in our efforts to build indigenous capability in the domain of small satellite technology has been invaluable to the success of this space-qualification. With this momentous success in mind, going forward, we intend to be part of every ISRO PSLV commercial mission and lead Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s drive for a private industry-led space revolution in the country.”
